Where possible the local Planning department will require operators to consider ‘sharing’ existing masts and compounds before looking to build an additional site. If sharing is possible the two operators must agree configuration of the compound and position of the equipment on the mast. On occasion the tower will need to be strengthened, extended or even replaced with a more suitable mast or tower.
